Writing term 4

Athletics day
WALT: develop fundamental skills required for athletics
WILF: - Correct technique for throwing the discus and shotput
Correct technique for long jump and high jump
Passing the baton accurately in relay sprints
I am proud of trying my hardest and coming first in the short sprints. It was a challenge for me to come first in long sprints but at least I tried and came third. My next step is to jump further in the long jump. Next year I would like to do my best in all the athletics events. My best event was the sprints because I achieved my goal and tried my hardest.
Reading term 4
WALT: listen to a novel and reflect on the story as we think about the characters, setting, plot and the authors purpose.
Task 1: Describing the character Brian. To complete the task we had to describe Brian in different ways everytime we finished a chapter. This is my description of Brian.
Task 2: For our second task we had to make prefix and suffixes sentences about the book we are reading, hatchet. To complete this task we had to use prefixes and suffixes in our sentences e.g.
walked and jumped theses words contain suffixes or disembark and unavailable these wordscontain prefixes. Here are my sentences I have done.
Excellence
WALT: display excellence in all that we do
WILF: has been 'me' displaying 'my best, a can do attitude' in different situations, environments and in my learning.
Next Step: I believe I still need to work on showing excellence in writing. I will do my best to do this in 2017.

Thank you letter wk 6/7
In writing this week we had a choice to do either a poem, persuasive piece of writing and a then you letter to the adults that helped at camp. Here is my thank you letter.

Dear Millie,
I'm writing this letter to thank you very much for all the help you've given us and for all your dedication and the time you you've given to participate in all our activities. I would also like to thank you for all the support and kindness towards our experience at Camp.
Without you our camp wouldn't have been as exciting. Thank you for all, your encouraging and support towards us in our mud run. My favourite time I spent with you at camp was when we were at the camping ground when Mekhi, Alfie and all the girls were playing hand games.
You were an amazing parent helper when anyone was feeling down you would always know how to cheer them up. When help was needed you would always volunteer. If I needed help I could always count on you.

Kapa haka festival
On Monday 19th of September the kapa haka group performed at a festival at bay city. We performed for 15 mins and I felt so excited that the day had finally come and we rocked it. Our uniform were our school colours (yellow and blue).

I felt like a very lazy sloth my body felt like everything around it was dull. I was lying on my bed wondering if anything would change, my house was filled with nothing to do. I really wanted to go on my iPod but I knew to go on it I would have to charge it. Then I was sitting up looking at my roof when suddenly I had a lightbulb moment but then when I realised the things I wanted to do was going to need me to buy them from the dollar store; I knew I was not going to get up to just go to the dollar store and there I was again lying on my bed having nothing to do but slouch.

Nicole stomped into the room. “JOLIEEEEEE!” Nicole yelled. Jollies looked like she had no idea what she had done. Nicole was furious and the she started to yell at Jolie. Jolie was sitting there in the corner wondering why Nicole was shouting at her; maybe she did something or said something she had no idea why? Nicole was so loud and terrifying Jolie didn't know what to do she sat there blocking her ears and getting more and more annoyed. Nicole looked very tensed and looked like she wanted revenge for something. Jolie got up and stood there waiting and wishing for everything to be over and go back in time to find out what she did wrong!...

Dear Jzirah
Hey Julia how are you? I'm writing this letter to tell you what I did in the holidays. I did a lot of swimming; honestly I can't believe it is already over. On the first Sunday of the holidays it was Jolie’s birthday party we had it at the onekawa pools; she was turning nine I couldn't believe it ,she was growing up so fast! I remember when she was a little 5 year old girl she was so adorable; “right, back to the holidays”!
When we were at the pools it was so warm; it felt like a heater was on “ahh”. The first whiff I smelt was the chlorine. There were so many people I couldn't believe it. It was so loud, people were yelling everywhere.We found a table near the waterslide, the first pool we went in was the big cold pool to be honest it was quite warm. A few hours later we had lunch after that I thought I was going to blow up like a balloon. It was time to have cake; the flavour was chocolate with raspberry filling; “yummmm”.
On the last Sunday we went to Mt Ruapehu; me and my family decided it was time to have a holiday. When we got up there, we were so disappointed the ski field was closed I was so sad. We got up the mountain and we still were allowed to play in the snow; I made a humongous snowball and threw it to my dad. A few minutes later my hands got numb and we had to leave; my clothes were all soaked so I had to get changed. “BRUHHHHHH”!
I was so devastated that we weren't allowed to go on the skifield; oh well not everything goes as planed. I was so looking forward to going to Taupo on the way back; I asked my parents and they said yes. It was time to go back I was looking forward to going back to school and seeing my friends. These holidays were filled with lots of fun adventures , I hope you had a great holiday as well and had some fun.

Earth to Jupiter instructions
Task: write a set of instructions on how to get from Earth to a planet of your choice.
WALT:
- a chosen planet’s location in the solar system.
- a chosen planet’s distance from earth.
- planets you will pass by to get to the chosen planet.
- obstacles that may be on the journey, e.g. Atmosphere, moons...I was a practitioner.

Autumn poetry
WALT: I notice sentence structure…
When I write a poem I will notice and identify the tense in a sentence. I will replace the words to change the tense of the sentence in poetry.
For workshops I chose poetry because I love how we get to play around with words and rhyme them
while also choosing different types of poems to do.
We brainstormed some words related to Autumn that we thought might help us with our poem.
After we looked at some good examples of poem that we wanted to do and got some inspiration.
My poem was a rhyming poem because they are very rhythmic and is very playful. Then we started tome rite our poems. After we wrote our poems we had to edit it and reword it.
Then we had to do was go outside. We had to use our senses I remember smelling the green grass, listen to the birds Sing, touching the leaves while hearing them scrunch and seeing the beautiful colours of Autumn. We took a picture of what we wanted to sketched, I took a picture of a tree with its leaves almost fallen off.

We sketch a picture of what we wanted to. We had to colour and shade our sketches so it would look more colourful. When I finished the drawing that We did, we had to write our poem on top of our drawings. We all drew a border around our drawing mine was a orange and yellow border with a leaf in every corner.

A Duckerrella story
In our class we had to write about a story with a duck a key and a jandal this is my story.
Once upon a time there was a duck named Duckerrella that had two evil step ducklings and one evil step mother duck. Her step mother and step ducklings used Duckerrella as their maids. Duckerrella would wash the dishes, do the chores and made breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
One day Duckerrella and her step family received an invitation from the royal family. The invitation said that any duck or duckling may attend a ball for the prince that's looking for a princess. When Duckerrella heard the new she went and asked her step mother if she could go to the ball, her step mother said “only if you finished your chores”. So Duckerrella went and finished her chores, after she finished her chores she went upstairs to her room and started working on her dress. She came down in her dress , her step mother thought it was hideous then she ripped it and ruined her dress. Duckerrella didn't have anything to wear and her step family went to the ball without her. Duckerrella found the key to her box where her mice friends were and she told them what happened to her dress. She went and ran to the fountain in her front yard and started crying. Suddenly a strange lady said she was Duckerrella’s fairy quack mother.she turned a pumpkin into a carriage, her mice friends into horses and her flies into coachmen! The last thing to do was give Duckerrella a dress and a pair of shoes. In an instant quickity, quackity, quoo went Duckerrella’s fairy quack mothers wand. She gave Duckerrella a dress and a pair of glass jandals. Off Duckerrella went but her fairy quack mother said she only had until midnight before the spell would wear off. When Duckerrella got to the ball everybody layed eyes on her. The prince asked for a dance. Her step sisters were jealous and wanted to now who she was. When the clock struck 12:00 Duckerrella had to leave the prince, on the way she tripped over and lost a jandal. She got home just before her step family did. The next day the prince went looking for his princess. He came along the last house which was Duckerrella’s house Duckerrella's step duck locked her in room 1149. Duckerrella finally found a way out and got to try the jandal on. It fit perfectly. One of the step ducklings were jealous and said “no it fits me!” One of the ducklings squeezed her webbed foot into it. Finally Duckerrella and the prince lived happily ever after.

Writing 100
This week we have done writing 100 I wrote about my holiday.
Here is my recount about my day at ocean spa.
In the holidays I went to ocean spa, I went with my mum and my sister.
The first pool we went in was the warm pool. We stayed in that pool for a while then we hopped into the cold pool. When we were in the cold pool it was freezing, me and my sister were shivering. Later on in the cold pool me and my sister were diving and jumping in and out of the pool. While me and my sister were in the cold pool my mum was relaxing in the warm pool.
Finally the day was over.

The year sixes and the year fives were split up
I loved all the activities we did my favourite activity was the hoop challenge the challenge was the hold hands in a circle and try to get the hoop around every person without letting go of our hand. We split into girls and boy the girls won and we also did all together.
